At GPA Global, we take sustainability seriously. Since 2007, we have been pioneering innovative global packaging solutions that work for both people and planet, with the environment always being our top priority.
That is why we are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the Valpak Packaging Certificate!
The Valpak Packaging Compliance Scheme is the largest of its kind in the UK, and ensures that companies who handle large amounts of packaging comply with UK Packaging Waste Regulations.
We are proud to say that throughout 2021, GPA Global has met these regulations, maintaining our commitment to the environment.
Packaging Waste Regulations were first introduced to the UK in 1997, as the first piece of legislation aimed at producer responsibility. These rules were put in place to help relevant producers reduce the amount of packaging waste created, reduce the amount of packaging waste in landfills, and increase the volume of packaging waste which is recycled and recovered.
As registered members of Valpak, we at GPA Global, ensure that we take full responsibility for our environmental impact by paying for the recovery and recycling of the packaging waste we produce that enters the UK waste stream.
But that’s not all – ever mindful of the constant need for improvement when it comes to sustainability, we also pay for Valpak’s ‘Data Insights’ service.
This service allows the experts at Valpak to collate and analyze all of our packaging data, ensuring that we do not leave a stone unturned when it comes to maximizing our protection of the environment.
This data and our yearly submission were vigorously checked by Environmental Compliance Officers, before being sent along to the Environment Agency.
We believe that taking environmental responsibility shouldn’t just end at meeting government standards for packaging.
GPA Global was founded in 2007 by Adam Melton and Tom Wang in an attempt to combat the worrying amounts of toxic waste generated by the packaging industry worldwide.
We envisaged a greener, more sustainable future for packaging, which would still provide users with premium quality products. Since then, we have consistently been at the forefront of the industry, pioneering innovative packaging solutions which prioritize sustainability without sacrificing on style or functionality.
Whether through sourcing the most eco-friendly materials, exploring renewable energy options or localizing our supply chains, we are always seeking new ways to champion sustainability.
Our Eco-Logic range of luxury packaging combined cutting-edge material science with our more traditional skill sets, resulting in a gorgeous line of completely biodegradable packaging. The use of molded pulp, soy-based inks, water-based glue and recyclable foils mean that the range’s eco credentials are second to none, while the elegant designs perfectly illustrate the fact that sustainable packaging solutions can also be sleek and stylish.
In 2021 we launched our Incept Sustainability training initiative, an innovative system which aimed to equip our staff with sustainability knowledge and training, while also surveying their opinions and queries.
We’ve been able to pinpoint areas where more attention is required, which has increased our ability to produce more eco friendly innovations as a result of a two-way dialogue.
We are determined to strike the perfect balance between people and planet, minimizing our impact on the environment while providing high quality products for consumers and funding community wellbeing.
And all that’s just for starters: you can find out more about our environmental targets here.
As ever, sustainability remains the beating heart behind everything we do. We are thrilled to have received our Valpak Packaging Certificate for 2021, and you can bet that throughout 2022 we will continue to strive towards a greener, cleaner future for the packaging industry.
