About the Project
Suspended Time focuses on the moment when a master distiller makes the decision that a whisky is ready for bottling, thus suspending its development and capturing it in the bottle at the perfect moment. This expression spent its time maturing in a combination of European and American oak casks, before it was filled into a handsome glass decanter bearing the magnificent Glenfiddich stag emblem.
The design evokes the image of moving ribbons, each one frozen in time to form elegant cut-out windows, revealing the regal decanter inside.
The Glenfiddich bottle is presented in a contemporary decanter and modernist display case that gives the illusion that it is held in mid-air. With an embossed ribbon design, the diagonal plinth holds the bottle in place to make it appear as if it is suspended.
Suspending a bottle within the packaging was a challenge, the client wanted the bottle to appear to be floating in mid-air as if suspended by time.
