About the project
This carrier pack is designed to neatly store one bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey and two branded tumblers. The idea – as described on the pack – is to create your own delicious drink by simply adding ginger and lime. This type of pack is not new, but our version offers a sustainable take on what’s come before.
In previous iterations of the carrier case, plastic was used to create the handle, window and inner fitments. We knew that if we were going to create something truly sustainable we would have to find an alternative material offering the same strength and durability without leaving a huge environmental impact.
The project outcome
The solution to our problem was simple: kraft paper. This material is known for its strength, tear-resistance, and eco-friendly qualities – it is both easy to recycle and biodegradable. To eliminate the need for plastic, we created a clever die-cut handle, which allows the case to be comfortably held in the hand.
The revamped carrier case also contains a paper pulp tray, in place of a plastic fitment, which holds the bottle and the two tumblers securely in place. The last detail to consider was the printing. Rather than using traditional petroleum-based inks, we printed with one-colour soy ink which is much easier to recycle.
