One hundred and fifty runners will take part in the 3km family fun run. Money raised will be used by the charity to support underprivileged children and families in Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan.
“The Shenzhen Santa Run took place for the first time in 2018, and we’re delighted to help bring the event back this year. Captivating does fantastic work helping improve education, end poverty, and stop human trafficking in some of the poorest regions of China and East Asia. We are very proud to have worked with them as a charity partner since 2013.” Adam Melton of GPA.
Captivating works alongside grassroots Chinese charities in remote locations to help improve the quality of life of residents – particularly young women and girls. Their initiatives which include Pigs for Poverty and My First Job, focus on education and training. The schemes empower women, helping them to establish an income and a more stable future for themselves and their families.
GPA, which has an innovation center and manufacturing team based in Shenzhen, has a long relationship with the charity and recently sponsored a charity auction and gala event. The money raised at the event will enable 90 women to be trained as assistant chefs and professional tailors, 450 underprivileged students will receive financial support for their senior schooling, 57 girls will have a personal sponsor and 1,000 primary school students will have access to a volunteer teacher throughout the school year.
“We are so thankful for GPA’s support. Their partnership makes a huge difference to our events and consequently to our ability to support families in most need.
“The Santa Run is great fun for everyone involved and we are very grateful to have permission to hold it again.” Andrew Colquhoun, Captivating International
